Lottery Numbers Here

I’m in   a bit   of a   weird mood   today, so   I don’t   know how   this is   actually going  to work  out.

I don’t   know if   it’s going  to make  the   podcast better  or worse,  but let’s  find out  together,

shall we?

A 54  -year -old   man.

This is   like all   these crimes  in Japan,  all these  weird   things in   Japan.

It’s always  50 -year  -old men.

I’m 50  -something.

You wouldn’t   know from   looking at   me.

You’d think   I’m gorgeous  and   young, but  I’m not.

I’m actually  really   old and   gross.

So this   54 -year  -old dude   wanted to   climb Mount   Fuji, which  is fine.

I’ve never   climbed Mount  Fuji.

I don’t   really get   it.

Because if  you see  Mount   Fuji, it’s  a beautiful  mountain.

And so   being at   the base   of the   mountain or  in the  towns   around the  bottom of  the   mountain,

that’s pretty   cool.

You get   to see   the beautiful  mountain   behind you.

You climb   up on   the mountain  and you  see clouds  or weather  or just  the city.

It’s not   very good.

And then   people are  always   like, oh,   we want   to go   up for   the sunrise.

We want   to watch   the sunrise   from Mount  Fuji.

It’s the   same sunrise,  guys.

It’s not   worth it.

But it   is a   mountain, and   so it’s   tough to   climb.

On July   11th at   2 p  .m., he   called the   authorities and   they went   to him.

This guy,   54 years   old.

This guy,   this guy,   this guy.

This guy   was 54   years old.

He’s an   experienced climber.

So we   don’t expect   to have   any trouble.

But at   2 p  .m.

On July   11th, he   called the  authorities   and they  went   to him  and   they’re like,  dude,   go

to the  rest   station.

So he  was   between 7   and 8.

He was  closer   to 8,  but   they seem  to   have tried  to   take him  down.

They said,  look,   just stay  at   rest station  7   and then  climb   down when  you   feel better.

He slept  for   11 hours.

Now, I  haven’t   slept for  11   hours for  a   long time.

But damn,  that   sounds pretty  good.

Like, I  think   if I   slept for  11   hours, I’d  be   in pretty  good   shape to  do   most things  afterwards.

This guy,   he gets  up   the next  day   after sleeping  for   11 hours.

He walks  300   meters in  one   hour.

And then  he   gave up.

He goes,  look,   my foot  hurts.

I’m too  tired   to move.

You guys  got   to come  get   me.

So they  have   to go  all   the way  up   the mountain  again   twice.

So he  called   for help  twice   in two  days.

And then  they   walked him  down   the mountain,  which   means he  could   have walked  down   the mountain

himself.

He just   had to  have   some friends  with   him.

And it   makes me  wonder   if he  was   really hurt  or   if he’s  like,   this is  it.

It’s hard  to   tell.

Maybe he  was   in actual  distress.

Maybe he  just   needed to  use   authorities to  get   some human  contact.

And that’s  something   that’s come  up   a lot  is   I think  people   just need  human   contact.

And the  way   they’re getting  it is  through   this negative  stuff.

Like I  said,   my brain’s  in a  weird   place.

I don’t  really   know what’s  going   on.

There’s a  guy   who gave  me.

I don’t  have   a lot   of like  Apple   podcast reviews  and   stuff, but  there   was a   guy who  gave   me one.

He gave   me four   out of  five.

And he  said,   loves the  podcast.

One of  his   favorite.

But he  hates   the transition  music.

It’s too  loud.

So because  of   that, I  actually   turned it  down.

But he  sent   me a  message   later.

I think  it   was on  Facebook.

And he  said   like, you  know,   I love  the   podcast, but  the   transition sounds  too loud.

He just  doesn’t   want a  transition   sound.

And I   felt really  bad   because I  actually   did an  episode   without a  transition   sound to  try   to satisfy  a   single listener.

And then  all   like five,  six   other people  sent   me messages  going   like, I  like   the transition  sounds   because it  helps   delineate the  stories   and stuff.

So I  went   back and  I   feel bad.

Like you  can’t   make everyone  happy.

And I  think   this guy  is   like almost  wants   to be  a   fan.

But he’s  just   the fact  that   I’ve done  the   transition sounds  really   is throwing  them   off.

And he  hates   my guts  for   it.

But last  time   we talked  about   train spotters  and   how they  like   trash this  guy’s   car.

And I  said   like train  spotters   get violent  on   a regular  basis.

Well, turns  out   saying that  out   loud was  a   bit of   a curse   because they  got   violent again.

Some train  spotters,   four teens  were   arrested for  assault   after luring  a   guy to  a   park to  photograph   trains.

So this  is a  park   where pretty  famous   for train  photography.

So it  actually   was a  legitimate   seeming reason.

But this  guy   had released  personal   information online,  or   at least  that’s   how it  was   interpreted.

I’m not  actually   sure what  happened   because they  didn’t   give the  details.

These four  guys got  upset   because they  said   he released  their   personal information  online.

So he  basically   doxed them.

They said,  hey,   come to  this   park.

We’ll take  pictures   together.

I’m pretending  to   be friends,  which   is, yeah,  you   got to   be careful  of   friends.

You got  to   be careful  of   everybody.

They immediately  demanded   500 ,000  yen.

The thing  is,   he’s in  his   third year  in   middle school.

So he  doesn’t   have 500  ,000   yen to  give.

And then  they   said, give  us   your camera.

And then  they   started beating  him   up.

They took  5  ,000 yen,  which   is a  pretty   normal amount  of   money for  a   kid to  have   at that   age.

That’s actually  quite   a lot.

And then  they   stole his  camera,   which is  worth   150 ,000  yen.

So I  get   it’s a  hobby,   but a  kid   that young,   I don’t  know   if they  should   have a  camera   worth 150  ,000   yen.

That’s maybe  a   side issue.

That’s a  parenting   issue.

But I  can   guarantee he  didn’t   deserve to  have   it stolen.

He doesn’t  deserve   to get  beat   up for  it.

Yeah, the  train   dudes got  to   calm down.

An interior  contractor   was arrested  for   stealing 29  air   conditioners.

He went  to   multiple unoccupied  apartments   and stole  13   indoor and  16   outdoor units  with   a total   value of  29  ,000 yen,  which   that number  doesn’t   sound right.

29 ,000  yen   to me  seems   like the  price   of a   single air  conditioner   and a  cheap   one at   that.

Air conditioners  are   expensive.

Now in   Japan, heating  and   cooling is  garbage.

It’s one  of   the worst  aspects   of Japan   as a  country   is this  culture   of we  build a  house.

The walls  are   really thin.

We air  condition   every room  individually.

So like  my   room is  air   conditioned.

Now I   open the  door   to go   to the  hallway.

It’s 35   degrees in  the   hallway.

And so  like   I lose  all   the cool  air   from this  room.

The air  conditioner   has to  be   on all  the   time for  it   to maintain  cool.

If there’s  no   insulation.

So it’s  really   cold in  the   winter, really  hot in  the   summer.

And you  have   to like  heat and  cool   each room  individually,   which is  really   inefficient.

It is   because of  earthquakes.

So the  building   philosophy of  houses   are, they  need   to be   flexible and  shake   and stuff.

It’s part  of   it.

But also  people   don’t buy   old or  used   houses.

So they’re  not   actually built  to   last.

So when  I   get to  my   old age,  this   house, there’s  an   expectation that  it doesn’t  get

passed on  to   someone else.

It just  gets   torn down  and   rebuilt on  the   land.

So the  land   has value,  but   the house  itself   doesn’t.

So it’s  a   very different  philosophy   from other  countries   when it  comes   to houses.

But this  guy   had visited  apartments   to provide  consultation   and renovation  work,   saw all  the

air conditioners  and   thought, huh,  I   want to  have   the single  coldest   room in  all   of Japan.

Took all  29   air conditioners,  put   them all  in   one room   and just  froze.

He was   himself to  death,   which would  be   kind of  awesome,   actually.

Like, that’s  what   I need  in   my life.

I’m a  cold   bath guy.

And I  try   not to  talk   about it  as   much as  I want  to,   but cold  baths   are the  best   thing

in the  world.

Someone was  walking   past a  parking   lot and  noticed   masks, like  full face  masks.

So my   first image  is,   of course,  Halloween   or one  of   these horror  movies   where they  wear

a mask,  like   a Michael  Myers   mask that  they would  be   wearing to  cover   their whole  face.

Bank robbers,  heist   movies would   be wearing  them.

They called  the   police though.

So like,  I   think if  I   was walking  past   a parking  lot   and saw  just   full face  masks,   I would  think

that was  like   someone left  them   there or  someone   forgot them  there.

I would  not   think to  call   the police.

So this   is an  interesting   reaction because  they   actually maybe  have   done the  right   thing,

which I  wouldn’t   have done  instinctually.

The police  came   and investigated  and   they found  three   full face  masks,   crowbars, and

other items  hidden   in a  bush.

So other  items   hidden in  relation   to let’s  go   rob a  house   kind of   stuff.

The three  people   were arrested  had   actually been  questioned   two days  before.

So they  didn’t say  if they  did   like a  stakeout   and waited  to   see who  came   and got  the   masks

or what,  but they  already   had a  connection   to the  people   who were  in   the area  because   they

had been  questioned   days prior  for   a different  crime.

So these  were   suspected criminals.

There was  in the  area a  house   that was  3  .5 kilometers  away   that had  been   burgled four  times,

which is  every   element of   this is  really   weird because  if it  has   been burgled  four   times,

it means  all   the stuff’s  been   taken unless  this   is like  a   practice burglar  place.

Like, oh,  hey,   you’re getting  your   wings when  it   comes to  burgling.

Burgle this  house.

It’s a  great   practice house  to   start with.

The police  believe   they were  going   to burgle  the   same house  again,

but then  they   said they  don’t   know why   this house.

So to  me,   it would  be   like this  house   has been  burgled   so much  they   don’t have  any   money.

So if  they   don’t have  any   money, because  it’s   been burgled,   it’s been  pre,

everything’s been  taken   that’s of  any   value, seems  like   the logical  assumption.

So you’d  want to  go   to a  different   house.

I want  to   go find  a   different rich  house.

The only  thing   I can  think   of is   that they  were   practicing.

They were  practicing   burgling this  type   of house  or   something like  that

for them  to   be able  to   burgle more  effectively   in the   future.

The Criminal  Investigation   Department Mobile  Investigation   Unit.

That’s a  very   convoluted name.

The C  -I -D  -M  -I -U.

Kid M  -U.

Kid M  -U.

The Criminal  Investigation   Department Mobile  Investigation   Unit.

If you’re  going   to be  in   that group.

So this  is   the group  that   will like  stake   out places.

They’re mobile.

They’re undercover  cops.

And the  idea   is that  they’re   going to   be in  an   area where  they   think a  crime   is going  to   happen

or they’re  staking   out a  place   or something.

They’re the  guys   who are  just   like, you  know,   hanging out.

But you  have   to be  patient   and curious.

And if  you’re   patient and  curious,   there’s a  kind   of game  in   Japan that  would   be very  attractive   to you.

So that  would   be the  crane   game, the  UFO   catcher, where  you   have to   use the   joystick to  get   the claw  over   the toy  that   you want

and then  drop   it down  and   then get  the   toy and  then   bring it  back.

And then  you   win the  toy and  you   feel so  good.

But really  what   happens is  it   drops it.

And those  machines   are all   rigged.

When I  came to  Japan   in 2001,  I   had an  incredible   record of  winning   at those  games.

And then  about   three, four  years   later, by  the   time I  had   played it  like   three or  four   times.

Because I  remember   the first  or   second time  I   went, I  won   like six  toys   off one  machine.

And then  I   went back  and   I couldn’t  win   anything because  I   think the  crane,   I think,  I   know.

The cranes  are   designed to  drop   everything X  amount   of times.

So you   have to  get   that one  time   for it   to be  successful.

Or you  have   to use  like   special techniques  like   locking it,  knocking   it off  the   edge to  get   it into  the   hole or   something like  that.

All I  know   is that  they’re   not worth  the   money now.

Like it’s  really,   really impossible  to   actually win  at   those games.

This officer  for   the Criminal  Investigation   Department Mobile  Investigation   Unit

spent his  time,   killing time,  waiting,   staking out,  things   like that,  playing   crane games.

But if  you’re   playing a  crane   game, you’re  very   focused.

So you’re  not   watching the  area,   you’re not  watching   criminals, you’re  not,   you know,

I guess   if you  are   technically just  on   call and  ready,   and if   you want  to   waste the  time,

you are  playing   crane games.

That’s bad.

Cops on  duty   should not  be   sitting around  playing   crane games.

But I’m   actually fairly  forgiving   of that.

If he’s  just   waiting for  a   phone call,  it’s   okay, in  my   opinion.

But I  don’t   think that  if   you’re in  this   unit, you’re  just   waiting for  a   phone call.

I think   you’re in  an   area for  a   specific purpose  or   looking for  a   specific thing.

Then he  got   in more  trouble   because he  was   accused of  power   harassment because  he   made a  younger   sergeant help  him   try to  get   a specific  prize.

So he’s  like,   I’ve been  trying   for like  an   hour to  get   this one  figure.

I haven’t  been   able to  do   it.

You do  it.

I’ll pay  for   the game,  but   you got  to   play the  game   because you’re  younger   and more  agile   and maybe  you’re   a hand  -eye   coordination.

But it   didn’t work  out.

The guy  didn’t   win the  prize   and he   got angry  at him.

He’s like,  you’re   not taking  this   seriously because  you’re   not playing  with   your own  money   or something  like   that.

But maybe  the   guy didn’t  want   to play,  but this  is power  harassment.

You’re forcing  someone   to do  something   they don’t  want   to do  based   on your  authority.

That’s power  harassment,   even though  you’re   making them  play   like quite  a   fun game.

I’ll admit,  I   do love  crane   games and  I   would play  them   more if  I   thought they  were   fair.

But I  basically   have stopped  playing   them all  together   because I  don’t   think they’re  fair.

I think  they’re   completely rigged.

You cannot  win   unless you  get   that like  one   in a  thousand   chance where  the   claw is  actually   going to  hold   on to  the   toy.

So in  the   Yakuza games,  the   Like a  Dragon   Yakuza games,  I   actually spent  an   inordinate amount  of   time playing  crane   games because  those   ones are   fair.

He then  went   a step  further   and reported  the   crane game  time   as overtime.

So he   was getting  paid   extra to  play   the crane  games.

We don’t  know   how much  money   he spent  on   crane games,  but   he was  trying   to make  it   back by  claiming   overtime of  the   time he  spent   playing crane  games   so that  it   would all  blend   together in  this   one perpetual  motion   machine of  crane   game activity.

And he  got   a 10  %   pay cut.

I actually  think   you should  get   a lot  more   than that.

The 10  %   pay cut  comes   up a   lot.

And I  think it  is   not enough,  if   I’m being  really   honest, because  this   is a  cop   who’s supposed  to be  on   duty protecting  the   citizenry of  Japan.

And what  he’s   doing is  messing   around, and  that’s   not cool.

Three people  claimed   they could  predict   lottery numbers.

This is  a   very old  scam.

As long  as   we have  had   lotteries, we’ve  had   psychics and  stuff   claim they  could   help you  win   the lottery.

I have  entered   the lottery  the   last four,  five years  around   Christmas time,  because   that’s the  big   one in  Japan,   the New  Year’s   lottery, and  I   have yet  to   win anything.

So I   guess if  you   told me  you could  predict   the numbers,  I   might try  it,   but I  would   expect to  win   as much  as   I have  already   won, which  is   very little  and or  nothing.

If you  buy   the pack  of   10 tickets,  they   guarantee that  one   of those  tickets   will win  you   300 yen,  which   is the  price   of one  ticket.

So I  don’t   think that’s  fair.

I don’t  think   that should  be   called winning.

They basically  made   spam emails,  and   they said,  you   are guaranteed  a   massive lottery  jackpot.

And if   you responded  to   that email,  they   sent you  to a  website.

And if   you logged  into   that website,  then   they would  start   doing consultations.

You could   buy points  on   the website.

And from  that   website, when  you   bought points,  you   could then  talk   to some  people,   and they  would   give you  numbers   or try   to string  you   along.

Because again,  they   want you  to   buy more  points.

They would  talk   to you.

And there  was   a 70  -year -old  woman   who ended  up   paying 7  .5   million yen   on the  services   they were  offering.

They believe  there   were 20  victims,   and they  took   in over  80   million yen,  which   makes me  think   there’s a  legitimate   way to  do   the same  thing.

Because this  is   going back  to   people being  lonely.

I think   these 70  -year  -olds, they’re  lonely,   and they  want   to talk   to people   and interact  with   people.

So you  give   them some  way   to interact  with you,  and   they would  pay   you for  it.

And then  be   willing to  pay   7 .5  million   yen.

Now, they  are   promising a  payout,   which I  wouldn’t   promise.

But I  could   either do  fake   psychic, but  say   this is   for entertainment  purposes   only, and  then   just talk  to   you and  do   sort of  cold   reading stuff  and   tell you,  like,   oh, you  seem   lonely or  you’ve   lost someone  or   something like  that.

And the  people   are like,  oh,   my God,  he’s   psychic, and  then   just talk  to   me and  give   me money.

I think   that’s a  better   business plan  than   Ninja News  Japan,   which is  actually   only for  a   cost.

Because I   had to  pay   for the  domain   name, and  I   have to  pay   for the  hosting.

So Ninja  News   Japan has  actually   lost me  money,   whereas being  a   fake psychic  actually   probably made  me   quite a  bit   of money.

I think  we’re   going to  change   what this  podcast   is from  next   time.

15 -year  -old.

This story  hit   my feet  hard   this week.

A 15  -year -old  used   ChatGPT to  make   an app  that   unsubscribed people  from   the streaming  service   Bandai Channel.

So 46  ,000   people were  unsubscribed   because of  this   app when  the   kid deployed  it.

He built  it   with ChatGPT.

So he  didn’t   actually know  how   to code  specifically.

He got   interested in  coding,   but he  used   ChatGPT to  sort   of fill  in   the blanks.

He managed  to make  a   thing that  then   attacked this  streaming   website and  unsubscribed   people, but  it   also gave  him   access to  a   lot of  login   info, which  is   going to  be   emails and  passwords   and maybe  even   credit card  information.

He doesn’t  seem   to have  done   anything with  it.

So this  might   be an  actual   case of  a   young person  interested   in computers  and   hacking and  all   this kind  of   stuff.

They don’t  actually   want to  do   damage, but  they   want to  find   out what  they   can do.

And then  when   they do  it,   it’s a  lot   bigger than  they   actually   thought because  there’s   always going  to   be thousands  and   thousands of  people,   you know,  using   a streaming  service.

And then  if   you get  that   information, you’ve  actually   like committed  46  ,000 individual  crimes   by stealing  their   information.

He actually  said   when he  was   arrested, I  have   no grudge  against   the victimized  company,   but he  did   still manage  to   bring it  down.

So like  when   46 ,000  people   suddenly   unsubscribed, the  streaming   service had  to   basically shut  down   and then  try   to like  fill   in their  security   holes.

If you  look   at it  that   way, he  actually   did them  a   favor.

Like they  had   to fill  in   a security  hole   that they  had,   but yeah,  man,   I just  AI   and kids  like   his, they’re  saying   that this  generation   is less  mentally   acute than  previous   generations   because chat  GBT   and AI  things   have been  filling   in blanks  for   them and  teaching   them not  to   think.

Whereas before  you   were taught  to   think, and  then   you had  to   learn how  to   use a   computer and  stuff.

But there  is   going to  be   that one  little   savant kid  who’s   really good  at   computers and  does   think and  knows   how to  manipulate   computers and  AI   and then  puts   it together  and   then brings  down   the entire  world.

A man  in   his seventies  met   someone online.

And so  again,   it’s just,  it   brings me  back   to lonely.

I mean,  I   keep going  back   to this  area.

I think  this   is the  last   couple of  weeks   I’ve been  thinking   about this,  like   just old  people   being lonely,  which   is really  tough.

Now the  person   that he  met   online said,  if   you get  me   pregnant, I  will   reward you  30   million yen.

I want  someone   with excellent  genes.

So there’s  the   compliment of  you   have excellent  genes.

There is  the   compliment of  you   being 70  years   old and  I   still would  like   to have  your   DNA material  for   my own  purposes.

There’s   probably,   again, I  believe   a lonely  factor   where he  would   like to  be   with someone  and   someone who,  again,   this is  a   scam.

So I’m  betting   they used  like   a young,  attractive   picture and  playing   into the  fact   that he  was   older and  lonely   just actually  made   it worse.

The victim  paid   deposits and  processing   fees to  a   fake lawyer  of   2 .9  million   yen.

But then  they   kept asking  for   money and  he   wasn’t getting  any   booty.

He wasn’t  getting   any action.

He wasn’t  impregnating   anybody.

And that’s  when   he contacted  the   police and  that’s   when they  shut   down the  scam.

But they  don’t   actually, they  haven’t   been able  to   actually arrest  the   people yet  because   this was  all   done online  and   he transferred  money.

And it  makes   it really  hard   for them  to   catch him.

But I’m  in   my 50s  and   for a  man   in his  50s,   I’m not  horrendous   looking.

But I  just   go through  life   assuming   younger women  do   not look  at   me that  way   anymore.

That just  has   to be  the   base assumption.

And then  should   someone give  me   that attention,  it’s   just like  an   extra compliment.

It’s a  bonus.

But I  think   the   expectation,   because when  I   was in  my   20s and  30s,   I got  fairly   good attention  regularly.

That does  not   happen anymore.

Like I  can   walk into  a   room and  I   am just  invisible   to all  the   younger, more  attractive   people in  the   room.

And it’s  hard   for your  brain   to let  go   of the  thinking   of when  you   were in  your   20s now  that   you’re in  your   50s and  it’s   no longer  applicable.

But it  is   real life  and   that’s just  the   way it  goes.

So, yeah.

If anyone  says   they want  me   to impregnate  them   and they  want   me to  pay X  amount   of money  to   do it,

at least  hopefully   my brain’s  going   to be  like   override what  hormones   I have  left   and say,

no, that’s  not   actually what  they   want.

They just  want   your money.

A 44  -year  -old woman  in   Koga.

This is  a   huge story  right   now.

She’s been  arrested   for sewing  her   housemate’s lips  together   so that  she   couldn’t talk.

So she  couldn’t   talk.

She was  just   going to  be   really cheap.

She had  three   or four  people   who sort  of   lived there  and   then other  people   who seemed  to   come and  go.

And like  neighbors   said they  heard   sounds like  people   practicing boxing  and   stuff.

So like  people   hitting each  other   or something.

We don’t  know   that.

Like this  is   all just  what   they heard.

It’s   supposition.

We don’t  know   that.

So we  don’t   want to  say   it’s factual.

But the  woman   who had  her   lips sewn  together   put on  a   mask and  ran   out when  the   woman who  owned   the house  was   out at  work.

She ran  to   a convenience  store   and she  gave   them a  note   that said,

please help  me.

I’m in  trouble.

Please call  the   police.

They called  the   police.

An ambulance  showed   up.

They took  her   to the  hospital.

They said  she’s   not like  in   her injuries  are   not life  threatening,

but they  had   sewn the  lips   closed with  a   thread and  needle   from the  inside.

So like  from   the top  part   of your  lip   down through  the   inside.

So it  wasn’t   very visible.

But when  she   was running  and   escaping from  this   house,

this like  horror   nightmare   scenario,

when she  was   arrested,

she denied  sewing   the woman’s  lips   shut.

But it’s  one   of those  things   like how  does   someone get  their   lips sewn  shut?

Like the  done.

Okay.

We’ve talked  about   criminals.

This is  how   I end  every   episode.

If you’re  a   criminal,

you should  deny   the crime.

It’s the  police   are there  to   prove it.

But you  are   in so  much   trouble now  because   they’re going  to   now go  into   your house

and search  the   house.

And I  am   waiting for  the   follow -up  story   of all  the   weird stuff  they   found in  the   house,

video   recordings,

weird things,

stuff like  that.

But what  they’re   going to  be   looking for  more   than anything  else   is a  sewing   kit.

And this  is   like horror  movie   stuff.

And it’s  really   weird to  think   of it  in   real life.

But I  think   that’s why  it   became such  a   big story,

because in  general,

Japan is  such   a safe  place   to live.

There’s so  little   crime.

A crime  like   this is  so   dramatic and  so   big that  it   just destroys  the   news.

It just  goes   everywhere.

And so  I   saw it  like   10,

13 times.

I am  waiting   for the  follow  -up,

waiting for  the   rest,

the follow  -up   in the  court   case.

But that  means   we’re not  going   to have  a   conclusion for  like   two more  years.

But if  you   find yourself  in   a weird  situation   and someone  tries   to sew  your   lips shut,

you can  go   to a  convenience   store and  pass   them a  note,

and they  will   help you  out,

which is  pretty   nice.

Podcaster Trading Cards

(upbeat music)

Last week we talked about
the sewer cover, manhole

cover trading cards that
were being scalped online.

And it shows the depth to
which Japan has a culture,

that collecting culture, the
pokemon, all this kind of stuff.

It’s just deeply embedded in the culture

that you make cards,
you do these kind of things.

And they’re actually relatively successful,

but it turns out you can
do it with almost anything

because there’s a town that is
decided to make Odysan trading cards.

Now, Odysan, they
translate as middle-aged man.

I translate as old man,

but that really just depends on
your definition of middle-aged.

To me, middle-aged is gonna be in your 40s

because you’re probably
only gonna live to your 80s.

I think a lot of people extend
middle-aged into like the 50s and 60s.

Now you’re old, just give it up.

I have guys, guys, I know.

They’re in their late 30s and 40s and stuff

and they’re trying to
still claim to be cool.

I’m sorry, man, you’re not cool.

If you’re over 30, you’re not cool.

That’s just how it is
and they’re trying so hard.

It’s like, now let that
part of your life go.

You’re not cool anymore.

The interesting part, so you can get
like, Odysan farmer, Odysan fireman,

Odysan police officer,
Odysan, soba noodle shop chef.

The interesting part is within this
community, those are real people.

Now, most of these guys are retired.

So again, pushing the definition of
middle-aged, as far as I’m concerned,

if you’re in your 60s, 70s, and 80s,
you’re not middle-aged, I’m sorry.

I guess in Japan, if
you intend to live to 120,

60 could technically be
middle-aged, but I don’t buy it.

The cards are real people.

So there is a retired fire chief
who lives in the community.

You can get his cars and
these kids are trading the cards

and they’re like, look, I have
police chief Odysan autographed,

and he’s showing it off to his friends,
which is in a weird way, kind of cool,

because I always think
like, if you can meet the

real people who do the
thing, that is kind of cool.

So if you could meet, you collect the cards
and you get this really powerful cards,

and then you meet that
guy, you meet that Odysan,

in real life, that actually
is pretty interesting.

This was created by a
community center, and it’s

like these guys, they
donate to the community,

so like they retired, I think
it was a retired fire chief.

He like drives older people
around or maybe a retired cop.

He like gives back to the
community and now that he’s retired,

he drives people who can’t
drive their cars anymore.

So he’ll like essentially an
old person taxy service for free,

’cause he keeps him out, he
helps other people, he’s helping

his community, and so they
wanted to kind of pay it back,

and they made these cards,
they make 40 cards a day.

No, they make 50 cards a day.

A complete set of cards is 40 cards.

So if you get all 40,
you have a complete set,

and they might make more and more cards, it
just actually gets more and more popular.

But kids are showing an interest, and
they’re going by the community center,

they’re kind of talking to people,
they’re seeing older people,

they’re interacting with
them in a positive way.

So this is actually like a huge success.

They are hand cut by staff.

So you have staff members at this community
center who are making these cards,

I guess printing them out and cutting
them all day, I can hope not every day,

regularly to make at least
one set of cards every day.

Three cards costs 100 yen.

Six cards costs 500 yen, but
you get one prism finish card.

I have no idea what that means,

but I’m assuming it’s special
like a holographic version,

or a laminated version,
or something like that.

(upbeat music)

Fetishists cried out all in
one voice, with sadness and

pain and dismay, as the
world has now taken a shift,

although really the real
world doesn’t cater to

them as much as they’d
like, from this April,

police officers, female
police officers specifically,

will not have the
option to wear skirts.

Now, in real life, female police officers
in Japan have not been wearing skirts

for a very long time, or at
least very few of them do,

because if you’re out in
the street, you’re out in

patrol, you actually have
to chase someone down.

The skirt is not the most
functional piece of clothing.

So, they’re not gonna
have to wear skirts anymore,

because they’re not
gonna be skirts available.

And my first thought
was like it’s the fetish guys,

like the guys who collect uniforms,
there’s a lot of uniform fetishness.

This is in Japan, and they’re
all based around uniforms,

it’s like the stewardess uniform, the
schoolgirl uniform, the police officer uniform.

You’ll see Halloween
costumes as police officer,

and it’s an incredibly short
skirt and handcuffs in a hat.

And that’s about it.

I guess everything in
Halloween is just slutty version.

You’re still gonna be able to have that.

You’re just in real life,
there will be no equivalency,

because the cops are
all gonna be wearing pants.

This summer, they’ve introduced a
new breathable polo option for the shirt.

We’ve seen a lot of changes to
how police act in our treated in Japan.

Last year or two years ago,
they were allowed to drink on duty,

which you would think
is a really normal thing

to be able to do, but
they’re out in the hot sun

in the summer in Japan,
and they couldn’t get drinks

because they thought
that looked unprofessional.

So, what they had to do was
go back to the police station,

change their clothes, playing clothes, go
to the convenience store, buy some drinks,

go back to the police
station, change their clothes,

and then go back out and
do what they were doing.

Stupid.

Because what’s wrong
with having a police officer

come into a convenience store
and buy a drink and actually

drink it, because it is a
billion degrees outside.

We’ve just had a sudden spring.

Like, we could go last time I filmed,
I was probably wearing a sweater.

I am barely keeping up.

I have to probably take
off my light jacket off soon

and just be wearing a
t-shirt that’s so warm today.

And then next week,
it’s gonna be cold again.

It’s just flipping back and forth.

But it’s nice that they’re
starting to treat police

officers, not like machines,
but more like people.

The thing I didn’t know,
which was really interesting,

is they used to have
gender-based insignia.

So for their rank on their uniforms,

you would have like a sergeant
and insignia for a male sergeant,

and this insignia for a female sergeant,
were actually different insignias,

which I found very, very strange,
’cause the rank is the same.

It’s a weird thing.

So I practiced judo.

I think I’ve made that
clear many, many times.

In judo, there’s the belt system.

So we just talk about the black belt.

A female judoka, person who
practiced judo, who has a black belt.

The black belt actually has a stripe
on it, a white stripe through the middle.

To designate their woman despite
the fact that it doesn’t really matter.

I always found that weird, but
I’ve actually noticed in recent years,

a lot of the girls are just
wearing a regular black belt.

I have no complaints.

I think it’s a rank.

It has nothing to do with gender.

So why it would be differentiated.

It didn’t make sense
to me in the first place.

  • There’s gonna be someone yelling
about how their taxes are going to them

to be policing and not buying
water or tea or whatever.

  • Unfortunately.
  • This was in Japan.

This was a propriety thing.

Like people who are
working should not be

hanging out of a
convenience store and drinking.

So I think the negative
impression was coming from

the idea that maybe the
cops were slacking off.

Not that they didn’t deserve tea or water.

It was that they weren’t working.

But you can’t be chasing
criminals all day every

day just because that’s
not how that works.

So I think you do have a point.

There is gonna be a small segment of people

who just complain and
they’re gonna complain

that these guys are
allowed to have drinks.

But I think the majority… This
actually was spawned like four years ago.

It was a picture that went
around, went viral in Japan.

And it was either too Canadian
or too American police officers.

And they both had like Starbucks
and they were drinking out in sunglasses,

hanging out with people and just talking
like doing essentially community work.

Not necessarily running down a
criminal all the time like they do on TV.

Doing the actual job
of being a police officer.

These guys, it’s sparkly like is this okay?

Is this allowed?

They’re working.

They shouldn’t be doing this.

And a lot of people
are like, dude, it’s hot.

They’re having like drinks.

They’re just staying hydrated.

They’re drinking coffee ’cause
they’ve been working for eight hours.

Whatever, the back and
forth was very interesting.

And I actually think that viral post
sort of impacted the Japanese mentality

to be like these are human beings
who need water in the summertime.

So I think you’re
right, but hopefully not…

In a weird way, I’m hoping you’re not right

because people realize that these are
actually human beings who need liquids.

(upbeat music)

Sashima City Shrine.

So Sashima City is on Sashima Island
and you may have heard of Sashima Island

if you’ve actually played the video game,
go Sashima or you’re in the video games.

It was very popular and
it brought a lot of tours

to this area ’cause people wanted to see
the place where the video game took place.

That’s kind of cool.

You get tourism off a video game.

They didn’t spend any money
for this like free advertising.

That’s pretty cool.

But it has also caused problems where
we have a lot of nuisance streamers.

We have the overtourism, a lot
of issues with tourism in Japan.

Sashima Island is not excluded from that

just because it was made
popular by a video game.

They released a statement
on their Instagram.

A foreign tourist committed a severe
and unforgivable act of disrespect.

Now they don’t say what the act was.

I found six versions of the story.

All of them had the statement
and not what they actually did.

There was some supposition.

Sashima Shrine has not had
an easy time with the tourism.

It’s easy to judge both ways though.

I know the tourists are bad, but
I think Sashima might not be him.

I think that Sushima staff at the
shrine might not be handling it very well.

They’ve had problems with people
yelling and getting violent with the staff.

They’ve had disruptive behavior,

which I guess yelling and getting violent
with the staff is pretty disruptive.

The shrine will no
longer allow visitors at all.

So the only people who
can go into this shrine

are local parishioners,
so people who live in

the city, or people who
are shinto worshippers.

Now that’s a very difficult thing to check
because it’s not like you carry a card

or have some identification to
indicate that you are a shinto worshipper.

You are not allowed to take any photos

and there will be no live
streaming on the temple grounds.

So this is pretty strict.

Now these guys have gotten
pretty strict in the past.

Back in 2020, they banned foreigners,

but then they eased up
when that post went viral.

So we’re not allowed any foreigners
to join our, to come visit our shrine.

But then everyone’s
like, that’s actually biased,

it’s racist, it’s against the launch of
pen, it’s illegal to do that kind of thing.

So if you’re gonna ban people,

you can’t ban just foreigners,
but is their point of view

was it’s just the foreigners are coming
to visit here who are causing trouble.

In 2024, they banned Koreans,

which I would say is
even worse than just

banning foreigners as
a broad kind of thing.

They banned Koreans after a group of them
smoked and spit and ridiculed the staff.

So they had a bad experience of Koreans,

they’re just like no more
Koreans are allowed on our shrine.

So whatever happened recently
is just another version of this.

And they’re like, maybe
we wanna ban this group,

they seem to be really quick with the ban
hammer, which I’m kind of on board with.

Like if people are gonna cause
trouble, don’t let those people in.

But then of course, because
it’s sort of open to the public,

anything you do is
considered racism or a bias,

which is true, and so
you’re not allowed to do that.

So they’re just like, you
know what, no more visitors.

You have to either be a shinto
worshipper or a local to come in and visit.

I don’t know, I don’t know
what happened to set them off

this badly, but they
seem to have been set off

a bunch of times in the
past and set up different bans,

which makes me think maybe
they overreact is very hard to tell.

The thing is the other
side of this is in 2021,

there was a typhoon and
knocked over a Tory gate,

those big red, very sort
of iconic gates in Japan.

Games fans of the video game
go to Shishima and soccer punch

the company that made
the video game race $260,000

to rebuild the Tory
gate and parts of the

shrine that were damaged
during the typhoon.

So they’ve kind of gotten
positive stuff from this video

game coming out and making
their island kind of a point

to visit, but they’ve also had now we’re
having all the trouble with the tourism.

I wanna know specifically
what was actually done,

so I can judge whether
or not they’re overreacting,

but it seems like the
staff and the people there

aren’t really big fans of
interacting with people anyways,

don’t know how to manage crowds,
don’t know how to manage tourists,

and so them just blocking it off
probably is just better for everybody.

(upbeat music)

We get lots of stories
about power harassment.

Actually again, I get a story
and it happens again and again

and again and after a
while I’ll ease off on it

because there’s nothing to say about it,
but when it comes to power harassment

and the variety of
harassment they have in Japan,

it’s always interesting
to see what actually

constitutes the definition
of power harassment.

So this was a section chief was
glaring at subordinates during meetings.

So basically they couldn’t
explain themselves very well

or they weren’t doing
as good a job as he

would have hoped and
he was glaring at them.

So just staring at them displeased.

Not apparently, I guess power
harassment isn’t a single thing.

So that’s any one of
these harassment that you

break down into, it’s
like different pieces.

Each piece doesn’t seem that bad.

So like a guy staring at
me because he doesn’t like

how good my explanation
is, that doesn’t seem too bad.

I mean that just seems like
all my bosses pissed at me

because I’m not doing
my job to his satisfaction.

They did put slamming his desk.

So I don’t know what that means.

Like taking the drawer
and slamming it shut,

slamming the top of the desk
with his hands, something like that.

He was hit with a
temporary pay cut of 10% now.

His defense was, I have a loud voice

and a Hakata accent dialect and
that may have made it sound harsh.

So importantly, like I don’t know
enough about the different dialects.

So the Hakata dialect apparently
sounds very harsh in the Japanese ear.

So he’s saying that the way
I talk my subordinates or the

people who work with me,
they’re taking it the wrong way.

But the bid I find interesting, this
is actually doing an international pan

and dealing with these kind
of statements and defenses

has made me realize what people do
naturally and it’s a diversionary tactic.

So they’re saying you
were glaring at people,

you were slamming stuff,
you were shouting at them.

These are all power harassment.

He’s saying, I have a naturally loud voice

and I speak in a dialect, which
means you’re misinterpreting it.

But your way of speaking does
not impact slamming the desk.

You’re glaring at people has nothing to
do with your accent, that kind of stuff.

So they’ve made a series of like claims,

like you did ABCD and
he goes, yeah, but I do J

and that’s why everyone is misinterpreting
what I’m doing is power harassment.

So that’s something to keep in line
when you actually maybe get into a conflict

with another person when
you are talking about a thing,

they will start talking about something
else and try to ease themselves away.

Like I don’t, I do this and so
therefore you’re misinterpreting it

but you’re actually not
talking about the thing.

Stay on target, stay on point.

That’s how you win an argument.

And when people
start deflecting like this,

you know they’ve
already lost the argument.

If all you have to do is say like a statement,
I’ve actually made a bunch of times,

maybe not a statement,
but it’s like I say

something, the person
defends himself and I go,

notice how you didn’t
answer the question I asked

or you didn’t deal with
the topic I brought up?

And that’s because what
they’re doing is some sort of

diversionary tactic to try
to get out of the argument.

He berated his employee
by hitting the desk with a pen.

So I guess it’s getting,
hitting it with a pen.

I, how hard is that I don’t know?

(upbeat music)

There was a traffic stop.

A guy had driven a car
into a traffic light pole.

So I’m, he’s either on his
phone and distracted or drunk.

That’s the only reason
you drive into a pole

is because you’re not
actually looking at the road.

So he was distracted.

The police show up.

They start questioning the man.

The man says, I don’t care anymore.

Any punches is the policeman in the head.

I don’t know why.

That story has no
details or anything to it.

I just think it’s funny.

This guy declaring, I don’t care anymore.

And then punches the policeman and gets
arrested because yeah, he had to open drunk.

I’m gonna cut that story out.

That was not useful.

(upbeat music)

Sukiya is one of those very popular
chain restaurants that I will not go to.

Not, it’s not particularly bad.

I just, if I’m gonna spend money on food,
I want to get good food and it’s just fine.

It’s not even, I just never would care.

There’s a lot of foreign
people come to Japan

and they like to go to the chain restaurants
like Koko, Ichiba and Sukiya and stuff.

And I actually never
have enjoyed any of those.

‘Cause it’s like, if
you’re gonna go out to

four food, go out for
at least mediocre food.

This is like lower than that.

I’m very pretentious when it comes to food.

Unintentionally, I don’t
see if myself is a very

pretentious person overall,
but it seems like I’m very mid.

I think mid has become an insult,

whereas my view is like there’s high-end,
mid and low, and I’m always gonna go mid.

I actually don’t like high-end food either.

Like if you said, let’s go to this really
expensive Michelin Star Restaurant.

I’d be like, yeah, really?

We could go somewhere a
little cheaper that’d be more fun.

You say, let’s go to this place
that serves garbage in a bowl.

I’d be like, yeah, could we just go to like
a mid place instead of that’d be better?

So I have my biases and
at least I’m aware of them.

My coworkers do make fun of it, though,
because I will not go to certain restaurants.

On January 21st, so
back in January 21st, they

Sukiya served miso soup
and it had a mouse in it.

Now, I, again, multiple stories, some
stories said mouse, some stories said rat.

Now, my image of rats
is that they’re very large.

So I think this was a
mouse and it turns out

the mouse had crawled
into one of the bowls.

So they have stacks of like miso
bowls, these little wooden bowls usually,

and then they grab one, fill it up with
soup, and then serve it to the customer.

A mouse had gone into that
and died, and then the staff

picked it up without checking
poured the miso soup in.

Obviously, couldn’t see the mouse
anymore and served it to the customer.

Now, here’s the thing.

When they switched it from mouse to rat,
that’s to make the story more dramatic.

It’s more click-baity, I think.

But I think it was a rat to be too heavy.

Like, you picked that up,
you’d feel there was something

already in there, so it
had to be really small

and really light, which makes
me think it was a mouse.

So that’s, again, I have no
proof one way or the other,

but I think if you put
a rat in a little tiny,

very light wooden bowl, you’d be
able to feel the weight of a rat in there.

They served it to a customer.

The customer, of course, went,
dude, there’s a mouse in my soup.

I don’t want this.

This is disgusting.

They closed that restaurant for two days.

Didn’t inspection
tried to find if there any

gaps or holes where
the animals could get in.

They tried to see if there
was an infestation somewhere.

They were given a clean bill of health.

It seems like a one-off kind
of random thing and off they go.

What made people angry
wasn’t so much, I guess it was,

but wasn’t so much that there
was a mouse served in the miso soup.

It’s that they did kind
of try to keep it quiet.

They didn’t announce it on their website.

They wasn’t part of the news.

They didn’t get out.

Then they made a statement
on their website very quietly

that there was an object
in a miso soup bowl.

We apologize.

We’re going to make sure
that never happens again.

We’re going to train the staff better.

All the standard corporate things you have
to say in Japan when there’s a problem.

The main complaint
online is that they didn’t say

anything for at least two
months before it got out.

It seemed like they tried to
brush over it, which I’m sorry,

if I was on the corporate side,
that’s probably exactly what I would do.

I don’t want people to
find out that there was

a mouse in the soup
that we served to anybody.

That’s going to kill your business.

So I get it, even if it’s
not completely honest,

I kind of understand
what happened there.

(upbeat music)

The university professor
previously was forced to quit

because of a sexual
misconduct with a student.

Now, they were found to be laying
down, which was a very weird way to put it.

So I’m assuming not
actually having sex, but laying

down together in one of
the labs in the university.

So maybe laying down
and hugging, laying down

and just like taking
a nap, I don’t know.

I think if they were having sex, they
would have been more clear about it.

So they were very specific
about laying down in the lab,

’cause I saw about three
versions of this story.

The teacher was forced
to quit because of course,

this teacher’s a inappropriate conduct
between a teacher and a student.

So I actually think that
was pretty reasonable.

Then they found out later, the
teacher had tried to defend themselves

by saying, well, I was
actually being blackmailed.

The student had said,
you have to do these things

that I want you to do,
or I will send messages

to the administration
and I will get you fired.

So basically, you do
sexual misconduct with me,

or I’m going to accuse
you of sexual misconduct.

So he was in a situation
where like rocking

a hard place, ’cause
what are you gonna do?

There’s no options.

What the student actually did?

This was very weird, to be honest.

So the student had
blackmailed the professor

and made a contract,
and the contract included,

you have to hug and lie
together with me once a month.

So once every month you
have to lay down with me

in the lab, ’cause this is
where this all was happening.

So once a month, once a month, okay, I’m,
the weird part on my side is I was like,

that’s not very often,
like just lay down together

and hug once a month,
maybe, I don’t know,

then go on a date
outdoors every two months.

Now this was in writing,
and then the student

made the teacher sign it, so
that, which is essentially saying,

I am going to black, if
you don’t do these things,

I’m going to blackmail you,
here’s a contract, please sign it.

So that was the weird part of this,
is that the teacher actually, in a way,

had the proof that they
were being blackmailed

from the beginning
when they had a contract,

a physical piece of
paper they had to sign.

I’m wondering though,
if the student took the

contract back, or how
they found the contract.

But the contract came out
that had these stipulations

of hugging and laying
together and going on a date

very few months, and again, a date
every two months is not very often.

I would, I would honestly,
okay, if I was going to

bother blackmailing someone,
I’d get something out of it.

I’d be like, every
single week, we go on a

date, or every two weeks,
depends how much time.

It’s a university professor, they
got weekends off, they got money.

And then laying in the
place, I wouldn’t want

to do it in the lab,
or go somewhere else.

Or maybe that’s what got the
student off, was doing it in the laboratory

where they’re not supposed to
do it, the risk of getting caught.

The professor tried to break it off,

has text messages where I sent to the student
like, I don’t want to do this anymore,

I think this is inappropriate,
I think this is wrong.

The student then returned
with, be my slave forever.

So that shows you kind of
the difference in psychology

they have going on with this student
who is blackmailing the teacher.

Again, through commit
sexual misconduct with

me, or I will accuse you
of sexual misconduct.

The professor, they haven’t said that,

whether or not the
professor’s gonna get their job

back, because I actually
think if the professor

could have had a little
more of a backbone in

this one, I’m actually
gone to the administration

and said, this student’s
trying to blackmailing.

Here’s the contract they tried to make,
and they wanted me to sign, which I sign,

but it’s not of course
not legally, you can’t

legally, I have lost the
word, not legally applicable.

We got to the last story
of my brain to shut off.

It’s just done.

No, it’s not legally enforceable.

I’m legally binding, thank you the show.

So we got two appropriate ones.

My brain just kicked in right as
you were typing that I assume.

It’s not legally binding,
it’s not legally enforceable.

This contract to force me
to commit sexual misconduct.

He could have taken that to
the administration who said,

this student’s trying to
do this, let’s put a camera

into prove it, if you want more
proof, we could actually do it.

Because we know the student wants to
do this laying down thing in the classroom.

We could have the student come in and say,
I don’t want to lay down the student then,

we’ll say something inappropriate, like
you have to, you’re my slave, whatever.

But yeah, that last
message, be my slave forever.

We don’t know if the
teacher’s gonna get their

job back, but they are
getting their unpaid wages.

  • A man feels he’s being
    power harassed at work.

I mean, have we not all
felt that way in dignity?

At being, essentially,
slate, wage slaves

felt like the world
treats you unfairly well,

I mean, it’s pretty common.

I think that’s pretty fair.

So he’s like, I’m going to get revenge
on my power harassing boss and company.

They haven’t taken care of me.

I’m going to do the most
sensible thing I can do.

I’m not going to go make a complaint.

I’m not going to go to HR.

I’m not going to try to deal with this.

I’m going to set some
cardboard stands on fire

at a company warehouse.

He managed the fire.

The fire manages to burn
30,000 of 53,000 square meters.

In total, there were
109 employees inside

the warehouse, but
there were no casualties.

So that’s why this move, this
story can get an industry pan

because the destruction
of property is funny,

the destruction of
human life, not so much.

That wasn’t enough for him.

He tried it again at a different warehouse.

So he wasn’t going for the 30,000.

He was going for the full 60,000 square
meter point, whatever points that gets you.

The total damage was 20 billion yen.

So he’s been arrested.

He’s admitted to the charges.

I get the odd feeling.

This might not go his way, 20 billion yen.

You can convert that into dollars.

It’s still like $200 million.

This was a warehouse for Hitachi,
which makes a lot of electronics.

So I’m assuming a ton
of electronics in there.

That’s how the price got so high, so fast.

I don’t know what to say.

Not the best resolution
to the issue at hand.

I think that’s a very standard Ninja
News Japan resolution to a problem.

You’ve gone the wrong direction
in dealing with your problems.

More so, if you’re angry
about power harassment

at work, do you think
prison’s going to be better?

That might be the message I have to
these guys who are going off the rails.

Before you decide to
set fire to something that’s

going to burn down a
warehouse full of billions of yen

worth of materials, do you
think prison is going to be better?

Because you’re probably
thinking, oh, I’m not

going to get caught or something like that.

Well, you are.

Because like me, you’re
not a professional criminal.

I’m trying so hard not to
get into the criminal mindset.

Give advice to the criminals, whatnot.

It’s where my brain goes first is like,
how do you get away with this or whatever?

We’re not doing it.

I’m trying to at least cut down.

I’ll do it maybe on the more interesting
crimes, the more unique and unusual crimes.

That’s my promise to you for this new year.

2024 going forward.

I will only give advice
to unique and interesting

crimes, criminals,
crimes, criminals, both.

Japan, once again, got the fossil
award for its reliance on coal plants.

So you might think,
Japan, technologically

advanced country, doing
a lot for green energy.

Interestingly, Toyota
has 20% of its European

car sales are going to
be a mission list by 2026.

Electric, it’s a combination
of electric and fuel cell cars.

The European ban– this is because the
European ban is going into effect by 2035.

So every car in Europe has
to have no emissions by 2035.

All Lexus’s, Lexi, are going to be a
mission list by 2035, 2030 in Europe.

So they want to make sure the Lexus
can be sold in Europe, uninterrupted.

They’re clearly putting a lot of
effort into these technologies.

Toyota’s a big company.

It’s essentially a national
company at this point in Japan.

The issue– there’s two aspects to this.

Japan has won the fossil award
in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

It seems a bit much to me.

Because the fossil award
is not really an award.

It’s like an insult.

Your country is too reliant
on non-green energies.

We’re going to try to
embarrass you into doing better.

Japan, certainly
deserving of some criticism.

Japan has– because it’s not a
particular resource-rich country.

It’s an island.

They have to import a lot.

They import from other countries.

Other countries, you buy your stuff.

You’re going to buy
from the cheapest place.

And the cheapest places are going to
use cold refineries and what? This is it.

There’s still a lot of
cold refineries in Japan

to make up for the significant
loss of nuclear energy,

the Fukushima thing, really
put a damper on nuclear power.

Three-mile island.

OK.

Something I’d learned about,
which was a bit shocking to me.

Three-mile island happened, long time ago.

And it really put a damper on nuclear power

being adopted worldwide.

Apparently, if we had adopted
nuclear power at the same rate–

so let’s say, three-mile
island had not happened.

And the progress of
nuclear energy had continued.

We would not be having
a climate crisis right now.

So if we were using nuclear power,

consistently improving it,
upgrading it, that kind of stuff.

At this point, in our lives, we would not
have to worry about the climate change.

But because three-mile
island happened and

people got very skittish
about nuclear energy,

we now have a separate
crisis we have to deal with.

I just found that
it’s the unintended

consequences of a lack
of progress in one place.

I have Fukushima.

Yes, it was smashed.

Yes, it doesn’t work now.

You are talking about an
incredibly old nuclear power.

plant that was hit by an earthquake
and Tsunami and did not explode.

So great, it’s not perfect,
but this incredibly old thing–

because it was built ages
and ages ago– didn’t blow up.

And so I put a lot of faith in the
engineers who created these things.

I think if you did nuclear
power with modern engineering

practices and safety
standards, nuclear power

would be easily the
safest thing we got going.

But who listens to me?

Anyways, Japan gets the fossil world.

That’s one thing, the nuclear energy part.

The other thing is, Japan’s
now gotten it four years in a role.

And I feel like the group is
picking on a very safe target.

Because they could give it to China.

China uses a lot of coal
power, a lot more than Japan.

India– India uses a lot more than–.

I mean, it’s a lot more
dirty energy than Japan.

Why is Japan getting
it over and over again?

So there’s a thought process there.

Like, hey, we can pick
on countries that all react

negatively and maybe
actually try to do something.

I don’t know.

I don’t think China or India
would actually do anything.

They’d probably just ignore it.

If you gave the fossil world to
China, they’d be like, thanks, an award.

You give it to Japan.

They have to pretend
to be a shame like, oh, no.

We have to take this seriously.

Actually, again, Japan really
realistically is just ignoring as well.

This is not a real thing.

It was just interesting to me.

It’s like this group is like we want to
give out this award to embarrass a country.

Let’s not give it to
the ones that are scary.

Let’s give it to the safest
one we can give it to.

It’s just– it’s dumb.

It’s dumb.

This is like the streamers
who go around causing trouble.

Because we had the Johnny Somal.

We had the European dude who
did the trains for free and stuff.

Why did they do it in Japan?

Because in their view, Japan was the place

where they’re going to get
the least amount of trouble.

They’re going to get a Johnny Somal.

I don’t actually know
what’s happened to him.

I tried to find out.

I think he’s in jail.

He certainly was going
through the whole process.

I was getting clips on the Internet.

It seemed like he was out.

But then it also seemed like he was gone.

A bunch of them went to Thailand.

Thailand is not going to put up
with your shit as much as Japan is.

Japan takes the time and builds the case,

but actually gives you
enough time to get away.

So the guy from Europe
who was getting on the trains

for free, he left before
they actually arrested him.

But why do they choose Japan?

Because Japan, even if I get in trouble,

that’s a safe, nice country, and
I’m not going to eat, but you do.

No country is going to put
up with your shit that much.

It’s just got this image of the place

where you could basically
fuck around and not find out.

And it is interesting now that
people are sort of finding out.

Has nothing to do with
the actual story I was doing.

Tangent Sohoy.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Tokyo, the city, has decided to make high
school free, including lunches from 2024.

This is great.

I think free education is very important.

I think it’s great.

The interesting thing is that
this sounds like a great policy

until you realize tuition in
Tokyo was basically already free

for any home making
less than $9.1 million yen.

So the only beneficiaries
of this new policy

that sounds very generous
is actually rich people.

So you had, again, the
average salary for Japan

four to five million yen.

So we’re just going to say 4.5 million yen.

So $9 million yen is
probably a dual income.

It’s two people working full time.

So essentially, if
you didn’t have a dual

income family, high
school was already free.

Maybe you had to pay for lunches.

So the lunches free, that is nice.

So the real only beneficiary
of this new Tokyo free high

school, including lunches
policy, is rich people.

So it’s not really as good.

It is still good.

I don’t want to like crap on it.

I think education be as
free as much as possible,

educating people is always a good thing.

I did run into this question.

So we talked about free
education in one of my classes,

and I was talking to one of my students,
and a lot of my students are older.

And I said, well, do you
agree with this? Is a policy.

Do you think going forward,
people shouldn’t have to pay

for school, people shouldn’t
have to pay for this stuff?

And a lot of my students
would immediately go, no,

I had to pay for it, therefore
they have to pay for it.

I had to pay for it, therefore
they should have to pay for it.

And I said, I kind of trumped them.

I said, so you don’t believe that things
should improve for future generations.

And they were like, what?

You know, of course I
believe that, but you just

said, because you had
to pay, you had to suffer,

you had to do this, therefore the following
generation should also have to do that.

So anything I’ve had to
pay for, or any suffering

I’ve had in my life, I actually
don’t want my kids to go through.

So if I had to pay for
school, I would be super

happy if my kids didn’t
have to pay for school.

I would be super happy if their
kids didn’t have to pay for school.

That is the evolution of society.

So anyone who’s holding
onto these arguments,

like I had to do it, therefore following
generations should have to do it.

You can always hold that in the back
of your head as a counter argument.

So you don’t believe in progress,
you don’t believe in change.

And everyone goes, no, no, no, I
believe in making the world a better place.

Everyone wants to make that statement.

But if you believe in that for real,

then you should hope,
believe and push for the lives

of everyone who comes after
you to be better than your life.

And a lot of people can’t accept that.

It’s an interesting
dichotomy in the human mind.

It goes along with prisons.

Our prisons designed
to rehabilitate or punish,

because those two
things cannot go together.

If prison is to punish someone, you are
not going to make them a better person.

If prison is going to rehabilitate
them, it cannot be a terrible experience.

So putting those things
together, like the ideas,

the concepts, because
everyone who wants to put people

on their prison will say,
this is to rehabilitate them.

But then you say, well, prison is an
awful place that makes people unhappy.

It causes depression.

It does a whole bunch of horrible things.

It gives you PTSD.

You probably get attacked.

You have to probably have to
fight for your life at some point.

I am thinking, of course, about
the worst cases of prisons.

That does not rehabilitate people.

That makes better criminals.

That makes tougher,
meaner people who come

out of prison and are
more likely to reoffend.

If you want to rehabilitate people,
you have to put them into prison.

Prison has to be relatively comfortable.

It has to have counseling.

It has to have a lot of benefits
to make them better people

and realize how they could improve their
lives and make the world a better place.

The dichotomy of these
two concepts never work out.

When you actually try to
have a real conversation,

so you have to ask people what they
believe and then called them out on it.

So do you believe in prison?

Do you believe it should
be to rehabilitate or punish?

And then when they say one, you have to
hold them to it and talk about the results.

If you believe the world should improve,
then the idea that you had to do something

therefore further generation
should have to do it.

Should not stand.

I clicked the button too soon.

Because Japan
universities are going to be

free if you have three or more kids
from 2025 with no income restrictions.

Also, it just means it’s
benefiting rich people.

So I have two kids right now, literally,

if I had another baby, I wouldn’t
have to pay university for my two kids.

Would be having the third child offset
the cost enough for it to be worthwhile?

Not for me at this stage of
my life, because I’m plus 50.

Having a baby now means when my
baby is 20, I’m going to be in my 70s.

So that’s a bit much for me
to start another baby’s life.

But conceptually,
again, for the people who

come after me, this
is a really good thing.

So Japan wants to,
having trouble with the

birth rate, they are
struggling with the concept

of what the problem is
with people having babies.

University fees are not the problem.

People are not saying I don’t want to
have children because of university costs.

It is nice.

It’s a benefit, and I don’t
think we should get rid of it.

But it’s not dealing with
the core issue of people

getting down and dirty,
dropping the bottom out of it,

laying pipe, whatever romantic phrase
you want to use for sexual intercourse.

I have my personal beliefs.

My personal belief is the
problem with the declining

birth rate in Japan is the
work, life, balance, culture.

People work too much.

They have no social time.

They have no free time.

They don’t meet people outside of work.

That means if you
don’t fall in love with

someone at work,
you’re not falling in love.

You’re alone.

You get used to being alone.

And then it becomes too
much trouble when you get older.

And that’s it.

Like you’re just done.

They need to get people to
stop working at a reasonable time

and go out and do stuff and have
enough money to go out and do the stuff.

That’s the secondary part.

If people are poor, they’re
not going to have babies

because they’re spending
all their time working.

If you spend all the time
working, you’re not going

to go out and have babies
because you have no time.

So you need time and money to meet people,
have relationships, and make babies.

A student had to write a diary.

This is a pretty normal school activity.

Is you write a diary and
you hand it into your teacher.

And your teacher marks it.

Just wants to make
sure that you’re capable of

writing sentences and
having thoughts and ideas.

This student was being bullied at school

and wrote in their diary.

It’d be better if I died.

And I wish I had never existed.

The teacher put what’s
called a hanamaru on

the sheet and then
commented, you can do it.

So hanamaru, let me explain what that is.

In Japan, when you do your work, what
the teacher does is they make a circle.

That’s the motto is circle.

And then Hana is flower.

So they make a circle.

They probably do a swirl.

And then they do
blossoms around the outside.

And it’s done on sheets.

It means it’s finished.

You did a good job that kind of stuff.

So hanamaru is a pretty common thing.

Elementary school, they just
kind of do it all over the sheet.

And it makes kids happy because they

get this big colorful swirl
that means you worked hard.

And then the comments, you can do it.

You can do it as an interesting comment.

I think what was actually
happening– there’s no confirmation.

This is my extrapolation
from the concept of A,

being a teacher and B,
knowing how much attention

people put into some of
the work they do sometimes.

I think the teacher wasn’t
actually reading the diary entries.

And if the student was
doing it, and the writing

looked pretty clean and neat,
they were doing hanamaru,

doing the thing, and then just writing
a comment, pretty standard comments.

Because, you can do
it and fight in Japanese.

Fight the whole.

Fight just means you don’t give up.

Try your best.

That kind of thing.

So what ended up happening?

Again, I think this is just ignorance
or a bit of laziness on a teacher’s part.

But this shows the
importance of if you assign

something to a
student, and actually, this

is a way the student was
reaching out to the teacher.

You’ve got to take that seriously.

I know it sucks.

I know reading kids’ essays and stuffsocks.

I’ve read essays.

I’ve written essays.

They all suck.

But the reality is, every now and then,
something like this that’s important happens.

So she gets in trouble.

She claims she did this
to encourage the student.

You can do it.

Is an encouragement.

The problem is you can
do it after the statement.

It would be better if I never existed.

And I should die is not the kind
of thing you want to encourage.

So she was encouraging the student, just
not the way she probably thought she was.

She apologized.

She got in trouble.

It’s all the kid to stop coming to school.

I hope the child is OK and
goes to a different school.

Don’t get into teaching if you’re not willing
to sit down and read two hours of shit.

Because that is a big part of your life.

But it shows that it is important.

Because in that shit might
actually be a call for help.

I’m just thinking about the
essays I wrote in university.

God damn, were they stupid.

And I was just every now
and then, feeling space.

I would not want to be my own teacher.

So you’re angry at the government.

We had that guy at the beginning.

He was angry at his company.

So he decided to set a warehouse on fire.

He had no concern for the
100 people in the warehouse.

That’s actually, to me, the scariest part.

He’s just like, I’m so angry,
I’m going to burn things.

I’m wondering if you thought
the warehouse would go up.

Or if you thought he was just going to burn
this like cardboard thing he set on fire.

But then once it started,
he must know the result.

And he went off to do it again.

So that makes it like egregious for sure.

He can’t claim ignorance at that point.

So anyways, let’s say you’re a person.

You’re over 50 years old.

The consistency of the
plus 50 year olds just losing

their shit and doing
whatever they want is amazing.

It seems like there’s
a switch in your head.

And when you get to a certain age
past 50, it either flips or it doesn’t.

So if it doesn’t, you stay
like a regular normal citizen.

But if it flips, you don’t
fucking care anymore.

You just do whatever you
want, whenever you want.

Because what the hell I’m
50, the thing is the thing I was

thinking mostly is it
50 or not retired yet.

Or at least most people aren’t.

I’m certainly not going
to be retired early.

So you’re 50 years old, you’re like me.

And like, I was like, I still got
like 10, 15, 20 years of work left.

If I got that much time, I
can’t just go doing random

dumb shit and fucking
up my life because I

still have to live a
certain amount of life.

Maybe if I win the
lottery, that switch flips.

And that was going to do whatever I want.

Anyway, so this guy’s
angry at the government.

And you know 50 years
old, angry at the government.

It’s time to get crazy.

A black car smashes
into the Hitachi City Hall.

And three people are injured.

30 minutes later, 15 kilometers away,

a white car crashes into
the Tokai Village office.

So this guy drives his car
into a government building,

gets out and says, you
know what, that’s not enough.

I’m going to get in a different car.

I’m going to drive 30 kilometers, oh, 15
kilometers away, 30 kilometers an hour.

I actually was sitting
there doing the math.

This is so dumb because of a high school

where they go like one train
is traveling at 60 miles an hour.

I started working out how fast he
was driving to the second location.

But of course, traffic and stuff.

It’s probably stopping to go traffic
because it is still in a small city.

30 minutes later, a white car
crashes into the Tokai Village office.

It’s the same guy he admitted to both.

I was so angry.

I took two cars and smashed
them into two buildings.

First of all, he has too many cars.

I bet it’s actually his car in his
mom’s car or something like that.

But he has too many access to too many cars

is clearly a problem if someone
is 50 years old and angry.

When he was arrested, he said, I
have a grudge against the village.

I mean, sure, you know what?

I bet if I go through my
life, I have tons of grudges.

I have a car.

I can’t run into building.

This is one of the benefits
of not being well off.

I’m not poor by any
means, but I’m not rich.

I could not reasonably
smash my car into something

because I was angry.

This story hit my newsfeed.

So I follow multiple newsfeeds.

This hit my newsfeed eight times.

It was a huge story across the news.

I can’t– it’s unique, for sure.

Maybe it’s because the
guy was arrested for this,

but OK, anyways, taxi
drivers at a red light.

And there’s a flock of pigeons in the road.

The light turns green.

Dude floors it as hard as he
can and hits one of the pigeons.

He kills one of the pigeons.

He probably maybe hit multiple,
but he hits one of the pigeons.

And he kills it.

A woman shouts out at
him like, dude, he’s psycho.

And he shouts out the window.

Roads are for people.

It’s up to the pigeons to avoid cars.

So his justification is, I
guess the interesting part

is he seems to think
that conceptually pigeons

would understand what a
road is and that it’s for people.

So he clearly hit these pigeons on purpose.

I think the woman– it’s not really clear.

It seems like the woman
then called the police.

This is verified by video footage.

This dude purposely
hitting a flock of pigeons.

He is then arrested
for killing a single pigeon.

Now, I’m not anti-animal.

I love animals.

I had a Dave in the background.

I don’t think he should hurt animals.

Getting arrested for killing a
pigeon seems like a lot to me.

But in Japan, there is the
violation of wildlife protection laws.

So he was arrested.

Imagine– he’s not going to jail.

But imagine paying a
fine for killing a pigeon.

And imagine hating pigeons so much.

You’re like, I’m going to mess up my car.

I actually wouldn’t hit
a pigeon because I don’t

want to clean it off my car.

It’s a very self-interested
reason to preserve wildlife.

But I’ve actually found a lot of my more
noble traits are actually self-interest.

I recycle a lot because I don’t like waste.

It has nothing to do with
saving the environment.

I’m like, it’s just wasteful.

So I should recycle
because recycling is good.

It’s not waste– that’s
a personal attitude,

it’s not necessarily a generous
attitude towards the world.

This came up more and more.

And I think this– a media bias
note– I found very interesting.

The first story was
taxi driver hits pigeon.

Second story is taxi driver hits pigeon.

About a day later, it’s
taxi driver hits dove.

Which I found a very interesting
shift because the tone changes.

Pigeons– a lot of
people don’t like pigeons.

They’re street rats.

They’re rats with
wings, that kind of stuff.

You’ve heard all those statements before.

Dove, on the other hand,
conjures a very different image.

But I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a dove A

in the wild or in Japan,
the time I’ve been in Japan.

So I forget what they called it.

It was like a rock dove or something.

They were just trying their hardest

to find a word other than
pigeon to create more sympathy.

That was the author of that final article

trying to change the context in the narrative
so that people would get more outrage.

So that’s something you have to be careful.

Media bias– it’s really good to go read
multiple sources when you read the news

because you will see
stuff like that happen.

And it’s very interesting
when you become aware of it.

So you become more
aware of everything you read

and the biases that are inherent therein.

OK, this is national news.

This to me illustrates what a
peaceful country Japan actually is.

Because this would never get
news time, I think, anywhere else.

I’ve never– I haven’t read the news
from every single country in the world.

I would love to do– this
would maybe be like, again,

if I’m rich and I had free time.

I would love to do not
just need to use Japan.

I’d like to do, you know, news Korea,
news Cambodia, news India, news Mongolia.

I would love to do a different
country essentially every day.

Every week do a different
country’s weird news.

It would be super fun.

But I don’t have time.

I live in Japan.

I read Japanese news anyways.

So it made sense to
just stick to one topic.

But weird international news on
a regular basis would be awesome.

If you find some weird
international news from

another country, it
doesn’t have to be Japan.

Send it to
chunkmanbeefchest@gmail.

com, or you can send a message to
speakpipe.com/chunkmanbeefchest.

And I will do a special episode, or I
might do a scenic beer or something.

I would love to do news
stories in the same way

from other countries just
because you know, expand.

Would I do, expand my
mind, expand your mind?

But that’s not what we’re talking about.

We’re talking about how peaceful Japan is

because this was national
news multiple times.

We’ve actually had a very
similar story to this before.

A woman bought a 110 coffee.

Now, what you do in
Japan and Canadian stores,

you buy a cup, and she
say, I would like a coffee cup,

and you get the coffee
cup, you give them 110 yen.

Then you go to a self-serve machine, you
put it in the machine, press the button.

Boom, Bob’s your uncle, you’re done.

She got her cup, she went to the machine.

She pushed the 190 yen cafe latte button
instead of the 110 yen coffee button.

The staff had seen her do
this on several occasions.

They then called the authorities.

I don’t know if she was arrested.

Again, I don’t know if
this is a rest worthy thing.

Someone has been arrested
for this in the past though.

She has made national
news in Japan multiple times.

Again, multiple news
sources picked up this story.

I don’t know what the goal is.

I think she claims she just
pressed the wrong button,

but she just pressed the
wrong button multiple times.

I actually weirdly think that is possible,

because let’s say you
just push the top button

or the bottom button or something
like you don’t think about it.

I could actually see someone
pushing the same button

incorrectly, regularly,
’cause all they care about,

let’s be honest, she’s
fucking trying to rip off 80 yen

from the Canadian store.

She is.

She knew exactly what she was doing.

This is a conspiracy, and it’s not right.

It’s such a small, pointless story,

but because it hits the news,
like on the news, in Japan,

this was on the news in the evening.

This was the evening news.

But show is how safe Japan is overall.

Where they’re like,
we’ve run out of stories.

Let’s report on this woman
ripping off a Canadian store,

80 yen, maybe five, six times.

So much so, an animation
was created to illustrate

what she was doing when she
was pressing the wrong button.

If you watched the YouTube
version, it’ll be up in the corner up here.

It’s just fucking insane.

But again, how great is Japan that way

when so little newsworthy things
happen that they have to talk

about stuff like this, because
they’re making this into an issue.

(chill music)

Good last story.

So you know, this is traditionally

where an Engine News Japan goes to the
creepy, creepy, creepy, creepy man story.

So at a Prefectural Budget
Committee Q&A session,

so you know it’s about to
get sexy and dirty up in here.

You have older men speaking.

And that really, if you’ve listened to
the News Japan for any length of time,

gives you all the context you
need for the rest of the story.

Older Japanese men have not updated
their way of thinking to modern times.

So I have always said to
people who come to Japan

sort of relatively new people,

that Japan is still kind of in the 60s.

So, hey, honey, slap in the
butt as the waitress walks away.

Wouldn’t be that unusual
here for an old man to do that.

Now, it is wrong.

And you will get in trouble for it.

That’s actually, again, how we get

the Engine News Japan final
stories is they always do these things.

because their brain hasn’t
caught up with the times.

Also, these men always are so much older

that their brain isn’t going
to change at this point.

They grew up thinking that
was acceptable behavior.

Times have changed, they have not.

This is government dudes
running their mouths saying stuff.

They say whatever comes into their head
because they’ve lived their whole lives,

people listening to them
saying that they’re smart.

And so now they think they are.

Well,

Takeshi, 69 years old.

Right there, again, everything I
needed to know in the one sentence.

Takeshi, 69 years old, government official.

He was going to ask a question, but
before he asks this question, he’s like,

“You know what, I’m
gonna make some comments

“about a local tea ceremony
event that was held in the town.

“Very kind, very generous.

” You know what he’s gonna do?

He’s gonna promote
the community he lives in.

Seems like a good idea.

So, again, we’re still on
the right track here, Takeshi.

Come on, buddy, you got this.

You’re going to promote a local
event with all the other people

and just say how great it
was, how you had a good time.

It’s a traditional tea ceremony event.

It’s gonna be, you know, Japanese culture.

All perfect, okay.

It was a local tea event put
on by high school students.

Uh-oh.

69 year old politician combined
with high school students

means that the next
thing that comes out of

his mouth has to have
a creepy element to it.

Guaranteed, there’s no
other way this can go.

His statement was,

the sweets made by the
female students, okay?

Already stopped right there.

He’s specifically saying
the female students.

That’s already, you can see with
the slippery slope he’s at the top of.

It’s not creepy yet.

The sweets made by the
female students were delicious.

Stop right there, okay.

You could’ve just said the sweets
made by the students were delicious.

Enough, perfect,
beautiful, everyone’s happy.

Has to keep going.

I also thought those two girls, oh, dudes,
picking out specific girls is dangerous.

He started down the slide.

I also thought those
two girls were beautiful.

Ah, 69 year old man complimenting
what I assume to be 15 year old girls.

Shouldn’t do it.

Just don’t say that part.

I also thought those two girls were
beautiful and a perfect score of 100.

Let’s just say saying they’re beautiful

was already pushing the
boundaries of acceptability.

But I think saying that some young people

are beautiful and they’ve
done an amazing thing.

You could’ve said
they’re wearing their

traditional commandos
and it was all beautiful.

No problem.

When you put a number on them,
you are clearly objectifying them.

And this is what I’m saying.

In his mind,

splitting a statistic on a
woman is not a problem

because his brain is back in the
60s when that’s what all these old men

probably sat around doing
in their 20s was sitting

around going like, ah,
you know, 80 out of 125.

Oh, 100, they were
doing that shit all the time.

I also thought those
two girls were beautiful

and a perfect score of
100, including the taste.

So he was saying
that their beauty was

100 and the taste of
the sweets was on 100,

but of course the taste
of the sweets came second.

And there is, again,
this other creepy thing

that Japanese people do,
like a beautiful and made this

and therefore it tastes better
’cause it’s all in your brain.

Another assembly member did the
political equipment of what the fuck dude.

So he just finishes statement.

This other assembly
person stands up and says,

what the fuck just came out of your mouth?

I don’t think you should
be rating students.

I don’t think you should be rating women.

I don’t think you should be
objectifying, shut the fuck up.

You fucking weird old man.

He did.

I mean, you want to give him some credit.

He did shut the fuck up and did
not continue with his statements.

I bet he would have gone on though
about how, yeah, I don’t even want to like,

because I guess I bet I
start getting in trouble.

Takeshi then afterwards
talking to the newspaper said

that he meant the taste was 100.

So not the, he wasn’t
objectifying the women.

He was putting a score on the sweets.

at those high school
students it made, which I

don’t believe, but I think
he’s just trying to cover

having said some dumb shit
because this is what politicians do.

They say dumb shit and
then they try to walk it back.

They’re not good at the walking back part

because they’ve never
had to do that before.

Takeshi said he meant the taste was 100

and he shouldn’t have mentioned looks.

His final statement is the
only really correct one he made.

He should not have commented
on the student’s looks.

Ignorance is not innocence

Mori is back at it again, there are a lot of smaller crimes as people just can’t seem to figure out that getting arrested for this petty stuff isn’t really worth it.

Also, power harassment and some happy nerd news. If you are a nerd, you may want to note the names of the companies mentioned.
